# What Makes up Sports Performance? A shot putter aims to achieve the greatest possible distance in a competition. To do this, she needs **conditional abilities**, such as strength. Beyond that, **coordination abilities** are also required. Both of these abilities are known as **motor skills** and are essential components of sports performance. They are further divided into specific forms, for example, strength. Abilities are thus the prerequisites for executing a specific movement, such as throwing a ball. Skills such as the approach (e.g., stepping-in and throwing) are also required. Skills and abilities are both trainable. ## Table of Sports Performance (Shot Put) | **Conditional Abilities** | **Motor Skills** | **Coordinative Abilities** | |---|---|---| | Strength | | | | Endurance | | Differential Ability | | Speed | | Orientation Ability | | Agility | | Response Ability | | | Technical Skills (e.g., approach) | Coupling Ability | | | | Rhythmic Ability | | | | Adjustment Ability | | | | Balance Ability | **Table 2.1**
