Diaz...IN RELATION TO THE CONTRACTOR...IN RELATION TO MANUFACTURERS, DEALERS AND AGENTS...IN RELATION TO COLLEAGUES AND SUBORDINATES ARCHITECT’S RESPONSIBILITIES IN RELATION TO THE PEOPLE Respect natural historic and cultural heritage of the community Strive to improve the environment in a sustainable manner Promote the interest of his/her professional organization Share in the interchange of technical information and experience Comply with the Code of Ethical Conduct and the Arch. Mary Catherine A. Diaz Standards of Professional Practice Properly observe the laws in the practice of architecture At no time act in a manner detrimental to the best interest if the architectural profession ARCHITECT’S RESPONSIBILITIES IN RELATION TO THE PEOPLE Not use paid advertisement, nor use self- laudatory, exaggerated or misleading publicity Not solicit, nor permit to solicit, in his/her name advertisements or other support towards the cost of any publication presenting his/her work Refrain from taking part in paid advertisement endorsing any materials of construction Not deceive the public as to his/her professional Arch. Diaz competence Exhibit his/her professional shingle outside his/her office, or display a project billboard indicating relevant information which may include pictorial reproduction thereof, in a modest manner ARCHITECT’S RESPONSIBILITIES IN RELATION TO HIS CLIENT Protect the Client’s interest but never at the Arch. Diaz expenses of higher public interest and public welfare Introduce to a prospective Client the professional services thru the presentation of example of professional experience ARCHITECT’S RESPONSIBILITIES IN RELATION TO HIS CLIENT No offering of free preliminary sketches of other services without the benefit of an agreement Acquaint or ascertain from the Client the nature and scope of his/her services and properly inform the Client of the corresponding professional fees Advise a Client against proceeding with any project whose practicability may be questionable Arch. Diaz Explain the conditional character of estimates and not guarantee any estimates or cost of the work in order to secure a commission Endeavor to meet the aesthetic and functional requirements of the project ARCHITECT’S RESPONSIBILITIES IN RELATION TO HIS CLIENT Bill for services rendered commensurate with the work involved Not ask for any other returns in whatever form from any interested source other than the Client Free from investment and business relations which tend to weaken standing as an unprejudiced and honest adviser Arch. Diaz Include in agreement with Client clause for the settlement of disputes Carry out professional work without undue delay Keep the Client informed at all times of the progress of the work ARCHITECT’S RESPONSIBILITIES IN RELATION TO THE CONTRACTOR Give the contractor every reasonable assistance to fully understand the Arch. Diaz contents of the Contract Documents ARCHITECT’S RESPONSIBILITIES IN RELATION TO THE CONTRACTOR Not knowingly call upon the Contractor or remedy oversights or error in the Contract Documents to the Contractor’s or the Owner’s financial disadvantage Reject or condemn material, equipment, or workmanship which is NOT in conformity with the Contract Documents Arch. Diaz Reject any offer of free professional engineering of allied design service/s or receive any substantial aid, gifts, commissions, or favors from any Contractor or Sub-contractor Promptly inspect each phase of the work completed ARCHITECT’S RESPONSIBILITIES IN RELATION TO THE MANUFACTURERS, DEALERS AND AGENTS Arch. Diaz Not seek commissions, discounts, fees, gifts, or favors Not solicit free professional engineering/ allied design or other technical services ARCHITECT’S RESPONSIBILITIES IN RELATION TO HIS COLLEAGUES AND SUBORDINATES Not render professional services without a Arch. Mary Catherine A. Diaz professional services agreement nor provide preliminary services on a conditional basis prior to definite agreement Abide by the Basic Minimum Fee ARCHITECT’S RESPONSIBILITIES IN RELATION TO HIS COLLEAGUES AND SUBORDINATES not undertake a commission for additions, rehabilitation, or remodelling of any erected structure undertaken previously by another architect without duly notifying. Limit advertisement or claim only to the extent of the specific work done Arch. Mary Catherine A. Diaz Must look at all possibilities of restoration not maliciously or unfairly criticize, or discredit another architect Provide employees and subordinates with a suitable work environment ARCHITECT’S RESPONSIBILITIES IN RELATION TO HIS COLLEAGUES AND SUBORDINATES Tutor and mentor the young aspirants Unselfishly share in the transfer of technical knowledge and experience Unselfishly give time and effort to the advancement of the profession Arch. Diaz Not unduly take advantage of the ideas of another architect Build professional reputation on the merits of own service and performance ARCHITECT’S RESPONSIBILITIES IN RELATION TO HIS COLLEAGUES AND SUBORDINATES When offering services as an independent consultant, must receive first an official invitation before quoting a fee Not undertake professional work unless the parties shall have clearly agreed in writing Continue to raise the standards of aesthetic excellence, functional logic, architectural education, research, training, and practice Arch. Diaz Promote the allied arts File a formal complaint with the designated body for any violations of the Code Not take designs, drawings, date, or other relevant materials without the permission of the employer NOT DISCRIMINATE
