Any adverse conditions should be brought to the attention of your dealer as soon as possible. These owner maintenance checks are generally not covered by warranties and you may be charged for labour, parts and lubricants used. When you stop for fuel: 僅 Check the coolant level in coolant res- ervoir. 僅 Check the windscreen washer fluid level. 僅 Look for low or under-inflated tyres. 僅 Check if the front of the radiator and condenser are clean and not blocked with leaves, dirt or insects etc. If any of the above parts are extremely dirty or you are not sure of their condition, we recommend that you contact a professional workshop. Kia recom- mends to visit an authorised Kia dealer/service partner. WARNING Hot coolant Be careful when checking your engine coolant level when the engine is hot. Follow the Normal maintenance sched- ule if the vehicle is usually operated where none of the following conditions apply. Follow the Maintenance Under Severe Usage Conditions if any of the following conditions apply. 僅 Repeated driving short distance of less than 8 km (5 miles) in normal temperature or less than 16 km (10 miles) in freezing temperature. 僅 Extensive engine idling or low speed driving for long distances. 僅 Driving on rough, dusty, muddy, unpaved, graveled or salt-spread roads. 僅 Driving in areas using salt or other corrosive materials or in very cold weather. 僅 Driving in heavy dust condition. 僅 Driving in heavy traffic area. 僅 Driving on uphill, downhill, or moun- tain road repeatedly. 僅 Using for towing or camping and driv- ing with loading on the roof. 僅 Driving for patrol car, taxi, other com- mercial use of vehicle towing. 僅 Frequently driving under high speed or rapid acceleration/deceleration. 僅 Frequently driving in stop-and-go condition. 僅 Engine oil usage which is not recom- mended (Mineral type, Semi-syn- thetic, Lower grade spec, etc.) If your vehicle is operated in any of the prior listed conditions, you should inspect, replace or refill more frequently, using the severe usage maintenance 8 10 Maintenance Scheduled maintenance service Normal maintenance schedule The following maintenance services must be performed to ensure good emission control and performance. Keep receipts for all vehicle emission services to protect your warranty. Where both mileage and time are shown, the frequency of service is determined by whichever occurs first. No. Item Remark 僅 As it is normal for engine oil to be consumed during driving, the engine oil level should be checked on regular basis. 僅 The engine oil change interval for normal operating conditions is based on the use of the Engine oil and engine oil fil- recommended engine specification. If the recommended engine oil specification is not *1 ter used, then replace the engine oil according to the maintenance schedule under severe operating conditions. 僅 Never add any additives to the engine oil. Engine oil additives can change the properties of engine oil and may cause serious engine failure. 僅 The engine oil level should be checked regularly and maintained properly. Operating with an insufficient amount oil can damage the engine, and such damage is not covered by war- ranty. 僅 This maintenance schedule depends on fuel quality. It is applicable only when using a qual- Engine oil and engine oil fil- ified fuel. *2 ter (For Diesel Engine) If the diesel fuel specifications don't meet the EN590, it must be replaced according to the severe maintenance schedule. 僅 Never add any additives to the engine oil. Engine oil additives can change the properties of engine oil and may cause serious engine failure. When adding coolant, use only deionized water or soft water for your vehicle and never mix *3 Coolant (Engine) hard water in the coolant filled at the factory. An improper coolant mixture can result in serious malfunction or engine damage. 僅 Adjust alternator, water pump and air conditioner (if equipped) drive belt. It is applicable only when using a qualified fuel. If the diesel fuel specifications don’t meet the EN590, it must be replaced more frequently. Kia recommends "every 7,500 km (5,000 miles) inspection, every *6 Fuel filter cartridge (Diesel) 15,000 km (10,000 miles) replacement". If there are some important safety matters like fuel flow restriction, surging, loss of power, hard starting problem etc., replace the fuel filter immedi- ately regardless of maintenance schedule and consult a professional workshop. Kia recom- mends to consult an authorised Kia dealer/service partner. 8 Kia recommends that you use unleaded petrol (petrol) which has an Octane Rating of RON (Research Octane Number) 91 / AKI (Anti-Knock Index) 87 or higher. For customers who do not use good quality petrols including fuel additives regularly, and have *7 Fuel additives problems starting or the engine does not run smoothly, one bottle of additives should be added to the fuel tank when the engine oil is replaced. Additives are available from a professional workshop along with information on how to use them. Kia recommends to visit an authorised Kia dealer/service partner. Do not mix other additives. * Transmission fluid Transmission fluid should be changed anytime it has been submerged in water. 8 11 Maintenance Scheduled maintenance service Normal maintenance schedule The following maintenance services must be performed to ensure good emission control and performance.
