The blindfold represents justice because justice doesn't look at the person, but looks at the **[facts]**. What is a « fact »? Something that can be proven. A trial is about presenting proof (or evidence) **[without prejudice]**. *Prejudice = les préjugés* *« Justice is blind »* =\> Justice treats everyone equally, without prejudice. The sword represents the **[decision]** made by the judge. The sword represents **[sentencing]**: for example prison, the death penalty, a fine, etc. The sword may also symbolize the way justice defends the **[human rights]** (justice is a warrior that fights against injustice) The sword has a double meaning: it threatens the guilty (sentencing) but it also protects the innocent. *« The sword has a **[deterrent effect »]***. It **[deters]** people from committing crimes. The pair of scales represent the fact that justice **[weighs]** things. What are those things? \- the acts of the accused on one hand and the suffering of the victim on the other hand. \- the crime and the punishment : « *The punishment should always **[fit]** the crime. »* \- aggravating circumstances and mitigating circumstances. The scale represents the sense of proportion of justice. V for Vendetta\ C1- « his » refers to the dictator. Justice is controlled by the dictator (who represents the executive power). Justice is not independent anymore. There's no separation of powers. « my justice » refers to justice for the people. C2- She's showing her true face\ She's showing her true colors. C3- He considers LJ as a wife who is not loyal, who is unfaithful, adulterous. She cheated on him. C4- Anarchy. V has become an anarchist because he doesn't believe in political institutions anymore.
