WHAT IS PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT? 1. What is Physical Education? 2. How you define Physical Fitness? 3. How can affect different physical activities in our body? 4.Can physical activities help to improve our aspects of life? If yes, give at least five (5) different ways how to improve it. PHYSICAL EDUCATION? ❑ Physical Education (PE) is an educational discipline that focuses on promoting physical activity, fitness, and overall well-being through structured and organized activities. ❑ It is a vital part of a comprehensive educational curriculum that aims to enhance students' physical, mental, and social development. PRIMARY GOALS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION: 1.Promoting Physical Fitness: PE programs aim to improve cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and other components of physical fitness. Engaging in regular physical activity helps students develop healthy habits and maintain a fit lifestyle. 2. Developing Motor Skills: Physical education helps students develop fundamental motor skills such as running, jumping, throwing, catching, and coordination. These skills are essential for participating in various sports and physical activities. PRIMARY GOALS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION: 3. Enhancing Health and Well-being: Regular physical activity has numerous health benefits, including reducing the risk of obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and other chronic illnesses. PE programs teach students the importance of leading an active lifestyle for overall health and well-being. 4. Promoting Sportsmanship and Cooperation: PE provides opportunities for students to participate in team sports and cooperative activities. This fosters qualities such as teamwork, sportsmanship, communication, and conflict resolution. PRIMARY GOALS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION: 5. WHAT IS THE PRIMARY AIMS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION?? Is an integral part of the Educational Program? It is a total body movement in the performance of properly selected Physical Activity. Help or facilitate the development of the potentialities of the individual so that he/she can attain total fitness to enable him/her to enjoy the “good life”. WHAT IS PHYSICAL FITNESS?? ∙ Physical Fitness is capacity of the individual to carry a desired task without undue fatigue. ∙ The condition in which an individual has enough energy to avoid fatigue and enjoy life. ∙ A set of abilities that one possesses in or to perform physical activity. ACTIVITY The state of being active: behavior of actions of a particular kind. Something that has done for pleasure and that usually involves a group of people. PHYSICAL ACTIVITY Any bodily movement produced by the contraction of skeletal muscles those results in a substantial increase in energy expenditure. Physical Development Individual who participates actively will develop and maintain good and high level of physical fitness. 2.
