SH1688 Political Debate and Mock Election Rule I. Political Debate After every round of the debate, the COMELEC will facilitate a poll or voting to the electorates which candidate or party wins the round. Majority voting will be used for this activity. The party who wins two (2) rounds would automatically win the debate. To facilitate a smooth voting process, make sure to do the following: a. Make a list of the present electorates or students during the debate. b. Decide how you will conduct the polling. It could be either manual or by using a digital learning tool such as Google Forms. For the guidelines how to use the mention digital learning tool, see Google Forms. c. If you are using a manual manner of polling, make sure that the confidentiality of votes remains from the candidates until the debate is over. d. If you are using a digital application, make sure to ask for the assistance of your teacher to execute it properly. e. Voting per round should only take five (5) minutes. II. Mock Election After the debate, the COMELEC will facilitate a mock election. For the position of the President and Vice-President, majority voting will be applied. On the other hand, three (3) seats will be allotted for the position of Senators applying the plurality voting. To facilitate a smooth voting process, make sure to do the following: a. Make a list of the present electorates or students during the debate. b. Decide how you will conduct the mock election. If you are using a digital application, make sure to ask for the assistance of your teacher to execute it properly. e. Whether manual or through using a digital application, create guidelines for the electorates to be discussed first before the mock election proper. III. Canvassing of Votes After the mock election, the COMELEC is now allowed to start counting the votes. To make sure fairness is executed, a representative coming from each party and an electorate must be present during the canvassing. Moreover, whether the canvassing is done inside or outside the classroom, documentation must be done.
