TECHNICAL REPORTS WHAT IS A REPORT? Sometimes the value of a report or project is reduced to the value of its exposure Adults remember, on average: - 10% of what you read, 20% of what you hear and 30% of what you see - 50% of what you have heard and seen and 70% of what you have said Structure: - 90% of what you have said and done -Presentation (8-10% of the time) - Who, why, how - What will be discussed next -Report summary (85-90% of the time) - Description of the problem - Methods - Results -Conclusions (2-3% of the time) - About the problem, the method, the results and the consequences 7 SOME PARTICULAR REPORTS JUDGMENT AND EXPERT REPORT (Expert Witness Testimony) Opinion of the author (usually a technician) on a given issue.
