Amorsolo (1972, Painting, Posthumous Conferment)- Known for his vivid depictions of landscapes, rural life, and portraits. Drawing I: Filipino National Artists 3 NATIONAL ARTIST FOR VISUAL ARTS GUILLERMO E. TOLENTINO Guillermo E. Tolentino (1973, Sculpture)- He sculpted the University of the Philippines’ most recognizable emblem, the UP Oblation, as well as the Bonifacio Monument in Caloocan City. Francisco (1976, Painting) - a muralist, was responsible for revolutionizing the fine arts landscape of the Philippines. Though unrecognized by many art critics, it appears that the most salient feature of Philippine arts is a rather stylized, rhythmic and patterned design or organization of forms. These notable national artists have been crafting the true value of Filipino culture in their artworks; they are unique and sensible of the society’s situation.
