Workship Hours and Eligibility

Students can contact the Workship Office to verify a nonprofit's 501(c)3 status before volunteering.
Workship hours completed after May 1st count towards the following school year's requirement.
New/Transfer and Re-enrolled Students can count community service hours completed three months prior to the beginning of classes.

Evaluation and Grading

Workship grades are awarded on a Pass/Fail basis.
P/Pass: student has completed 45 hours of community service and met all evaluation criteria.
F/Fail: student has not completed 45 hours of community service.

Consequences of Failure

Graduating students who fail will not receive their diploma or transcripts until Workship hours are completed.
Current students have a HOLD placed on their student account.
Probation sanctions are administered for those who fail to complete their Workship assignment by the deadline of May 1st.

Workship Policy

Every daytime full-time undergraduate student participates in Workship; no exemptions.
Requirements:
- 45 hours of volunteer community service per school year.
- Service must align with Christian commitment and core values of the University.
- A typical day of service ranges from 6-8 hours; no more than 12 Workship hours are granted per day.
Special circumstances may warrant an extension of hours, but only granted before the May 1st deadline.

Workship Probation

Students on Workship probation:
- May not register for classes until all Workship requirements are met.
- Must pay a $10 fine for each hour owed.
- Are at risk of Suspension from the University if they do not complete their hours in the designated timeframe.
- Will have a Hold placed on their student account until the fine is paid and delinquent hours are completed.
- Will be notified, and all relevant faculty/staff involved will be notified.
- Will not be permitted to Study Abroad.
- Must complete Workship hours before returning to PBA if they do not elect to return to classes during the semester of probation.

Workship Special Circumstances

No exemptions from the Workship Requirement.
