Medical Services

• Employers must have provisions for prompt medical attention in the event of serious injury
• Medical facilities must be readily available
• A person trained in first-aid must be available at the work site

First Aid

• First-aid supplies must be:
  • Approved by a consulting health professional
  • Readily available
  • In a weatherproof container with individual sealed packages for each item
  • Checked before being sent out on each job
  • Checked at least weekly to ensure expended items are replaced

Emergency Procedures

• Proper equipment for prompt transportation to a physician or hospital
• Communication system for contacting necessary ambulance service
• Emergency numbers must be posted
• Eyewash required for toxic and/or corrosive materials

Sanitation

• An adequate supply of potable water must be provided in all places of employment
• Portable water containers must be:
  • Capable of being tightly closed
  • Equipped with a tap
  • Clearly marked as to the nature of its contents
  • Not used for any other purpose
• The common drinking cup is prohibited

Potable Water

• Meets the quality standards prescribed in the U.S. Public Health Service Drinking Water Standards, published in 42 CFR part 72
• Approved for drinking purposes by the State or local authority having jurisdiction

Rodent, Insect, and Vermin Control

• Every enclosed workplace must be constructed, equipped, and maintained to prevent the entrance or harborage of rodents, insects, and other vermin
• A continuing and effective extermination program must be instituted where their presence is detected

Prompt Medical Attention

• In case of serious injury, immediate medical attention should be readily available.

First-Aid Kit Contents

• A well-stocked first-aid kit is essential for handling minor injuries and emergencies.

Emergency Numbers

• Emergency contact numbers, such as for fire, police, and ambulance services, must be prominently displayed in the workplace for easy access.

Potable Water

• Potable water refers to water that is safe for human consumption.

Drinking Water Container Requirements

• Drinking water containers must be clean, leak-proof, and suitable for holding and dispensing water safely.

Vermin Presence

• If vermin are detected, it is crucial to take prompt and effective measures to eliminate them and prevent re-infestation.
