- The World Wide Web, or WWW is an interconnected system of public webpages and is accessible through the Internet
- Sir Tim Berners-Lee invented it in 1989
Web 1.0
- Static web pages, non-interactive
- Users could not post comments or create accounts
- Examples include static sites like CNN or O.J. Simpson

- Second stage of World Wide Web evolution
- Dynamic websites
- Interactive features
- Examples: Facebook, Wikipedia, Lazada, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest
Web 2.0 Features
- Folksonomy: Allows users to categorize and classify information based on freely chosen keywords (tagging)
- Rich User Experience: Dynamic and responsive content adapts to user input, and user accounts influence displayed information
- User Participation: Allows multiple contributors, not just the website owner, to input and display website content
