Cellular Pathology

• Necrosis: death of cells or tissues due to injury or disease

Cardiovascular

• Hypertension: high blood pressure
• Hypotension: low blood pressure
• Normotension: normal blood pressure
• Tachycardia: rapid heart rate
• Bradycardia: slow heart rate

Respiratory

• Eupnea: normal breathing rate
• Tachypnea: rapid breathing rate
• Bradypnea: slow breathing rate
• Apnea: temporary cessation of breathing
• Dyspnea: difficulty breathing

Temperature Regulation

• Euthermia: normal body temperature
• Hyperthermia: elevated body temperature
• Pyrexia: fever
• Hyperpyrexia: extremely high fever
• Hypothermia: abnormally low body temperature

Integumentary

• Erythema: redness of the skin
• Alopecia: hair loss
• Hirsutism: excessive hair growth
• Hyperhidrosis: excessive sweating
• Petechiae: small red or purple spots on the skin
• Vitiligo: patchy loss of skin pigment
• Koilonychia: spoon-shaped nails

Gastrointestinal

• Borborygmi: rumbling noise produced by the movement of gas through the intestines
• Diaphoresis: excessive sweating
• Dysphagia: difficulty swallowing
• Flatulence: gas in the digestive system
• Hematochezia: bloody stools
• Melena: black, tarry stools
• Steatorrhea: fatty stools
• Acholic stool: pale, clay-colored stools

Genitourinary

• Nocturia: frequent urination at night
• Polyuria: excessive urine production
• Oliguria: decreased urine production
• Anuria: absence of urine production
• Hematuria: blood in the urine
• Pyuria: pus in the urine
• Glycosuria: glucose in the urine

Miscellaneous

• Unguis incarnatus: ingrown nail
• Tinea pedis: fungal infection of the feet
• Halitosis: bad breath
• Cheilosis: inflammation of the lips
• Pediculosis capitis: head lice
• Anorexia: loss of appetite
• Decubitus ulcer: pressure sore
• Somnambulism: sleepwalking
• Nocturnal enuresis: bedwetting
• Soliloquy: talking to oneself
• Bruxism: teeth grinding
