Eligibility Criteria for Police Department Head Position

The head of the fire or police department may suspend a firefighter or police officer for a reasonable period not to exceed 15 calendar _________.

Unless otherwise agreed by the parties, in an expedited procedure the hearing examiner shall render a decision on the appeal within 10 ______ after the date the hearing ended.

If a firefighter had previously terminated the firefighter's employment with the department and is subsequently _____, the two-year service requirements do not apply.

If a person is recalled on active military duty for not more than 60 months, the two-year service requirements do not apply and the time spent on active military duty is considered as duty in the respective fire or police department for up to _____ months.

Before the 90th day before the date a promotional examination is held, the commission shall post a notice that lists the sources from which the examination questions will be taken. This notice must be provided at least _____ days in advance.

If there are not enough firefighters in the next lower position with two years' service to take the examination, the commission may open the examination to persons in that position with less than two years' service. If there is still an insufficient number, the commission may open the examination to persons with at least two years' experience in the second lower position in salary for the position for which the examination is to be held. This includes individuals with less than two years' service and those with at least two years' experience in the second lower position, in salary, for a total of up to _____ years.

If a person is recalled on active military duty for not more than 60 months, the two-year service requirements do not apply and the person is entitled to have time spent on active military duty considered as duty in the respective fire or police department for up to _____ months.
