    Uniform Standards for Sworn Personnel

    • Collar Insignia: Placed 1 ¼” from collar end points, centered.
    • Dress Pants: Full-length, no blousing or tucking, hemmed to reach the top of the shoes' heels, must match the blue dress coat.
    • Dress Skirt: Hemline tailored to fall no shorter than the top of the kneecap and no longer than the bottom of the knee cap, must match the coat (blue/black).
    • White Long-Sleeve Shirt: Completely buttoned with the tie centered, tucked into the waistband of pants/skirts, shirt button-line, fly of the pants, and belt buckle will be in line.
    • Department Patches: On both sleeves.
    • Nameplate and Badge: Worn at all times when the dress coat is not being worn, the nameplate with the employee’s proper name will be centered over the right-hand pocket in-line with the badge, and the lower edge of the nameplate adjoined and parallel to the top of the pocket, nameplates will be kept clean and be the appropriate color (gold or silver) for the rank or position.
    • Serving Since Plate: Depicting the year they started serving as a firefighter is optional.
    • Badge: Worn on the left chest centered over the pocket, badges will be kept clean and be the appropriate color (gold or silver) for the rank or position.
    • Officers: Wear the appropriate number of gold bugles on Department-issued collar insignia, may wear a unit designator in place of one collar insignia on the right side if it is the same size and color as department-issued rank insignia.
    • Firefighters: May wear one unit designator as collar insignia on the right side if it is 3/8” in size.
    • White V-neck T-shirts: Worn underneath the dress shirt, they may not be exposed and/or extend below the sleeves of the shirt, undergarments will not be visible.
    • Sleeves: Worn in the full down position, not rolled up.
    • Approved Baseball Caps: May be worn at the identified station they represent, logos must be displayed on the back or side of the cap and will be no larger than 2” x 2” in size.
    • Fanny Packs: Reasonably-sized fanny packs and personal tool holsters may be worn but will be restricted to navy-blue or black in color and free of any graphic designs or logos with the exception of the department logo, personal accessories must not interfere with the fit or donning of protective equipment or the performance of job duties.
    • Class A Uniform: Worn at promotional ceremonies, graduation ceremonies, funerals (active or retired firefighters), Medal Day or other similar recognition event, station/facility openings or dedications, parades, or as directed by the Fire Chief or designee.
    • Class B Uniform: Worn at training sessions, drills, or fire suppression activities, when responding to emergency calls or incidents, performing operational duties, performing inspections.
    • Class C Uniform: Worn when performing administrative duties, when meeting with the public, or when attending meetings.
    • Personnel Actively Engaged in Department-Authorized Water Rescue Training: May wear the following: Department-issued polo or T-shirt, appropriate footwear for the activity, Department-issued wetsuit or swimsuit when appropriate.
    • Honor Guard Members: Wear the appropriate uniform as determined by the Honor Guard Coordinator/Commander.
    • Travel Uniforms: Authorized for members of Director’s Staff and above at the discretion of the Fire Chief.
    • Personnel on Temporary Restricted Duty Due to a Pregnancy: May wear the Class C uniform tailored with maternity panel(s), alterations must be obtained using the voucher available through the uniform voucher application.
    • Exceptions: Personnel who are unable to wear the appropriate uniform in its entirety due to a medical restriction will require approval by the Fire Chief or designee, approved exceptions will conform as closely as possible in color, style, and size as the uniform element.
    • Meritorious Valor and Service Ribbons: Worn beneath the badge centered across the top border of the left pocket on Class A dress coat and may be worn on the flap of the left shirt pocket on the Class B and C uniform shirts, ribbons displaying the highest commendation will be worn nearest the center of the chest, if there are more than three ribbons displayed the ribbon displaying the highest commendation will be centered atop the middle ribbon, multiple ribbons will be placed on a bar, there will be no more than three ribbons on each bar, each ribbon bar will be centered on the pocket in descending order not to exceed one three-ribbon bar across.
    • Certification Insignia: May be worn ½” above the nameplate on the Class B and C uniforms, limited to any two side by side at one time, includes Paramedic or EMT pin, Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting (ARFF) pin, Dive Rescue Team (DRT) pin, Wings for aircrew members, Technical Rescue Technician (TRT) pin, Hazardous Materials certification pin, Marine Firefighter, Urban Search and Rescue.
    • American Flag Pin: When worn, placed centered above all certification pins and the nameplate, EXCEPTION: When the nameplate is made with the American Flag as one piece, certification pin(s) may be worn above.
