Understanding John 3:16
- Believing in Jesus separates you from those who will perish, and puts you in a new category, delivered from darkness into the kingdom of God’s Son (Col 1:13).
- You will never be ashamed, and have received a life of glory and virtue (2 Pet 1:3).
- Accepting and walking in this truth is essential.
- Believing in Jesus and receiving Him as Lord and Savior means you have received eternal life (1 Jn 5:11-12), righteousness (Rom 5:18-19), and fellowship with God (1 Jn 1:3, Jn 17:21).
- Fellowship with God is made possible through eternal life and righteousness.
2 Corinthians 5:17-18
- If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creature, with old things passed away and all things become new.
- The new creature is a completely new being with no past.
