Adaptive immunity, on the other hand, is a more sophisticated and targeted response, developing over time as the body encounters specific pathogens. This process involves the production of highly specific antibodies that recognize and neutralize specific pathogens, as well as the activation of immune cells called T and B lymphocytes, which recognize and eliminate infected cells within the body. Both innate and adaptive immunity play crucial roles in maintaining our overall health and protecting us from a variety of diseases.
