    Font Formatting

    • Font is a basic typeface in which words are displayed, and it comes in families (e.g., Times New Roman).
    • To change the font, click the arrowhead to the right of the font name box in the Home formatting sub-task menu and select a font from the list.

    Font Size

    • Font size determines how large each letter will appear and is measured in points (1 point = 1/72 of an inch).
    • A font size of 10 or 12 is suitable for paragraphs of text.
    • To change the font size, click the white part of the font size box in the formatting sub-task menu and enter a value, or click the arrowhead to the right of the box to view a list of available font sizes.

    Font Dialogue Box

    • The Font dialogue box allows for more advanced formatting options and can be accessed by clicking the arrowhead to the right of the font name box in the Home formatting sub-task menu.

    Format Painter

    • The Format Painter is a feature that allows for easy formatting of text by copying formatting from one section of text to another.
    • To use the Format Painter, place the cursor within the text containing the desired formatting, click the Format Painter button, and then highlight the text to which the formatting should be applied.

    Paragraph Formatting

    • To modify the appearance of a paragraph, use the rulers, formatting toolbar, and paragraph dialogue box, or use shortcut keys.
    • By default, tab stops are set at 0.5-inch intervals from the left margin.
    • To increase or decrease the tab length, choose Home > Paragraph sub-task menu, click the down arrow, and select the Tabs button.

    Page Formatting

    • Page formatting options include page size and orientation and can be accessed under the Page Layout tab.
    • These options can be changed at any time according to one's needs.
