- Ensure elevators and trim tabs are in the neutral position
- Move the trim tab trailing edge up and down using moderate pressure
- Maximum allowable free-play is 1.12 inches measured at the trim tab trailing edge
- Trim tab free-play within 1.12 inches is considered within limits
- If free-play exceeds 1.12 inches, inspect the following for looseness:
- Push-pull tube to the trim tab horn assembly attachment
- Push-pull tube to the actuator assembly threaded rod end attachment
- Actuator assembly threaded rod end
- Replace damaged parts if looseness is found in the push-pull tube connections
- Refer to paragraphs 9-6 through 9-7C if looseness is found in the actuator assembly threaded rod end
