  • Manually move the trim tab trailing edge up and down using moderate pressure to assess free-play.

  • A system with less than 112" of free-play is within acceptable limits.
  • If the free-play exceeds 112", inspect the following components for looseness while manually manipulating the trim tab:
    • The push-pull tube to trim tab horn assembly attachment.
    • The push-pull tube to actuator assembly threaded rod end attachment.
    • The actuator assembly threaded rod end for movement within the actuator assembly.
  • If looseness is found in either the push-pull tube to trim tab horn assembly attachment or the push-pull tube to actuator assembly threaded rod end attachment, replace the affected components.
