  • Minimum fares and reservation fees are given for different classes (1AC/2AC, AC3 Tier, Economy AC, etc.) of these specific train types, alongside supplementary charges.

Monthly Season Tickets

  • Monthly season tickets have minimum distance-based fares for different classes (First and Second).

  • Rounding off of fares for Mail/Express trains ends in five rupees.

  • Season Ticket fares also round to the nearest five rupees.

Telescopic Fares

  • Combined tickets are issued for situations where a specific class or train isn't available for the entire journey length.

  • Fare calculation involves calculating the fare for the entire distance in both higher and lower classes, and then adding the two fares.

  • The lower fare will be collected if the higher class fare is lower.

Flexi-Fare System

  • A flexi-fare system exists on Rajdhani, Duronto, and Shatabdi trains where base fares are increased 10% for every 10% of berth sales, up to a preset maximum.

  • 1 AC and EC fares remain unchanged.

Luggage - Maximum Dimensions & Weights

  • In passenger compartments, maximum dimensions and weights vary by class.

  • No weight restrictions exist in brake vans.

  • Luggage exceeding 100 kg in weight or 100 cm x 100 cm x 70 cm in size is considered 'bulky articles'. and is subject to additional charges,.

  • Free luggage allowances differ in each class.

Booking of Luggage

  • Passengers can book luggage in compartment or brake van; however if in compartment must confirm with other passengers if this is acceptable. The maximum allowance is dependent on compartment type, luggage category, and whether it is booked on 'Railway Risk'.

  • A 2% development surcharge is also applied.

Booking of Oxygen Cylinders

  • Oxygen cylinders with a patient's supporting stand and doctor's certification are permitted.

Booking of Computers

  • One personal computer per passenger is permitted.

Booking of Statues

  • Dimensions and weight restrictions apply for statues, considering the material.

  • Maximum chargeable weights are specified for different vehicle types (cycles, scooters, motorbikes, rickshaws) and are dependent on the size of the vehicle.

Parcel Charges

  • Parcel charges are calculated based on the greater value between actual weight and calculated dimensions.

  • Minimum chargeable distance is 50 km and minimum chargeable weight is 10 kg.

  • Minimum freight cost is Rs 30.

Mobile Ticketing

  • Mobile ticketing is available through dedicated web portals, charging Rs. 5 /per ticket for lower classes and Rs 10 for higher classes.

YTSK (Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendra)

  • YTSK is a private-public partnership (PPP) centre dedicated to issuing UTS tickets at designated locations.

Jan Sadharan Ticket Booking Sevak (JTBS)

  • Railway Administration appoints designated agents (JTBS) for UTS ticket sales in identified station locations, who are minimum 18 years of age and have a landline phone.

  • Applicants must have a character certificate from the Assistant Scale Officer and Income Tax return (for the past 3 years).

  • Monthly commission rates for JTBS vary based on sales turnover.

Station Ticket Booking Agent

  • STBA agents are deployed at designated stations to minimize Station Master workloads, focusing on ticket issuance via UTS

  • The presence of STBA at a station means that booking clerks are not required.

Other Rules/Details

  • Various regulations and restrictions apply. For instance, particular items like offensive articles, dangerous materials, gas cylinders, etc., are subject to specific rules and restrictions.

  • Software, hardware, and stationery costs are the responsibility of the Railways. Locations are allocated free-of-charge.
