Train Driver’s Workstation: Horn and Bell Switches
- The horn switch is located above and to the right of the Air Brake Controller.
- The horn switch activates the air horn and bell when moved in any direction.
- The horn and bell icons light up on the FIRE screen when active.
- The horn switch can be disabled using the “disable horn switch” on the back wall of the cab.
- The bell switch is located beneath the horn switch.
- The bell switch operates the locomotive signal bell.
- The bell switch is a latching switch, meaning one movement turns the bell on, and another turns it off.
- The bell icon lights on the FIRE screen when active.
- The horn switch also activates the bell, the bell can only be silenced by the bell switch.
Attendant Call Switch
- The Attendant Call Switch is located on the lower portion of the control stand.
- The Attendant Call Switch sounds an audio warning on the locomotive and all trainlined units.
Alerter/Reset Switch
- The Alerter/Reset Switch is labeled “safety control reset” and located between the bell switch and the EOT Rear Emergency Brake switch.
- The Alerter/Reset Switch resets the alerter system when activated.
- The Alerter/Reset Switch displays a visual digital countdown timer on the FIRE display.
Engine Run Switch
- The Engine Run switch is located on the switch panel upper right and must be ON when the locomotive leads in a consist and OFF when the locomotive trails or is dead in a consist.
- When the Engine Run switch is ON, the locomotive control system controls diesel engine speed according to throttle handle setting.
- When the Engine Run switch is OFF, engine speed is not affected by throttle handle setting.
Generator Field Switch
- The Generator Field switch is located on the switch panel upper right and must be ON when the locomotive leads in a consist and OFF when the locomotive trails or is dead in the consist.
- The traction alternator (TA17) powers the DC link rather than powering traction motors directly.
- The Generator Field switch must be ON to enable traction motor operation.
- When the Generator Field switch is OFF, the control system applies some traction alternator excitation and the traction alternator applies voltage to the DC links, but no traction or dynamic braking will occur.
Fuel Pump Switch
- The Fuel Pump switch is located on the switch panel upper right and must be ON when the locomotive leads in a consist and OFF when the locomotive trails or is dead in the consist.
- When the Fuel Pump switch is ON, it enables various trainlined control circuits.
- The Fuel Pump switch must be ON for diesel engine fuel priming and starting.
Air Brakes Key
- Accesses the Air Brakes Setup menu
- Allows for modifications to brake settings and configuration
- Options include Equalizing Reservoir setup, Lead/Trail, Cut In/Out, and Air Brake Diagnostics
Electronic Control Platform (ECP) Modes
- Run Mode: Full ECP functionality is active

- No communication with End of Train (EOT) devices
- Enables cutting in and out of cars
- Speed limitation of 32 km/h
