Government Resources

• The Government website provides information on the initiative and safe working guidance on working on roads and highways.
• Copies of all legislation can be found online.
• The Traffic Management Act can be accessed on the legislation.gov.uk website.

Code of Practice and Manuals

• The Code of Practice can be freely downloaded from the GOV.UK website or purchased from TSO.
• Chapters can be purchased in hard copy from TSO or freely downloaded from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy website.
• Chapter 8 of the Traffic signs manual provides detailed advice on subjects not covered in the Code of Practice and can be freely downloaded.

Health and Safety Guidance

• The HSE website provides further information on Guidance Note GS6.
• The HSE publication, Reducing risk in temporary traffic management operations (CIS53), provides further information on reducing risk.
• Safety at street works and road works: a Code of Practice (2013) provides further information on safety at street works and road works.
