Acupuncture points include HE-5, P-6, BL-15, Ren-17, Ren-6, and DU-14. Possible herbs include Bao Yuan Tang and Rou Fu Bao Yuan Tang.

    • Heart Yang Deficiency: Symptoms include palpitations, shortness of breath with exertion, tiredness, and slight depression, spontaneous sweating, feeling of discomfort or stuffiness in the heart region, cold hands, and a bright pale face. Tongue is pale, pulse is deep-weak, possibly knotted in severe cases. Acupuncture points include HE-5, P-6, BL-15, Ren-17, Ren-6, DU-14. Possible herbs include Shen Fu Tang.

    • Heart Yang Collapse: Symptoms include palpitations, shortness of breath, weak and shallow breathing, profuse sweating, cold limbs, cyanosis or grayish-white complexion, and in severe cases coma.     • Heart Yin Deficiency with Empty Heat: Symptoms are similar to Heart Yin Deficiency but with additional symptoms of feeling hot, bothered, dry mouth and throat in the evening, thirst, desire to drink in small sips, malar flush, night sweating, and five palm heat. Tongue is normal colored without coating or rootless coating, pulse is floating empty, especially in the left front position. Acupuncture points include REN-15, REN-4, BL-17, BL-20, HE-7, P-6, REN-14, REN-15, REN-4, HE-6, SP-6, KI-7, KI-6, P-7, LI-11, HE-9. Possible herb Zhi Gan Cao Tang.

    • Heart Qi and Yin Deficiency: Similar to heart yin deficiency , but includes feeling hot, slightly breathlessness, mental restlessness, and night sweating. Tongue is normal colored without coating or rootless coating, pulse is floating empty, especially in the left front position and rapid. Acupuncture points include, REN-15, REN-4, HE-6, SP-6, KI-7, and KI-6. Possible herb Tian Wang Bu Xin Dan.

    • Deficiency of Both Heart Yang and Heart Yin: Symptoms include palpitations, propensity to be easily startled, slight breathlessness, tiredness, insomnia, mental restlessness, sweating on exertion, dry throat, and night sweating. Tongue is pale or red without coating, pulse is weak or floating empty. Acupuncture points include HE-5, P-6, REN-14, REN-15, REN-4, HE-6, SP-6, KI-7, KI-6, P-7, LI-11, HE-9, REN-17. Possible herb Zhi Gan Cao Tang.

    • Heart Yang Deficiency with Phlegm: Symptoms include slight feeling of oppression of the chest, felling cold, cold limbs, mental restlessness, night sweating, poor memory, and malar flush, Tongue is slightly pale purple on sides of chest area, pulse is empty but very slightly overflowing on the left front position.     • Heart Fire Blazing: Symptoms are weak and cold limbs, slightly purple lips and a pale complexion. Tongue is red with redder tip and yellow coating in severe cases. Overflowing rapid especially on left front, hasty and stopping at irregular intervals. Acupuncture points include HE-9, HE-8, HE-7, REN-15, SP-6, KI-6, LI-11, DU-24, DU-19. Possible herb Xie Xin Tang.
