  • Heart Qi Deficiency: Palpitations, shortness of breath while exerting oneself, pale face, tiredness, and slight depression. Associated with spontaneous sweating. Tongue is pale, pulse is empty.

  • Heart Yang Deficiency: Palpitations, shortness of breath while exerting oneself, tiredness, and slight depression. Spontaneous sweating and slight feeling of discomfort/stuffiness in the heart region are also present. Cold hands and a bright pale face are indicative. Tongue is pale, pulse is deep-weak (possibly knotted in severe cases),

  • Heart Yang Collapse: Similar symptoms to heart yang deficiency but with a feeling of coolness in the chest region, cold hands, cold feeling in the extremities, possibly cyanosis of lips, greyish-white complexion, possible coma in severe cases. Tongue is pale, pulse is Hidden Minute.

  • Heart Blood Deficiency: Palpitations, dizziness, sleep disturbances (insomnia), dream disturbances, memory problems, anxiety, and startle responses are common. Dull pale complexion and pale lips. Tongue is pale and thin, pulse is choppy or fine.
