    Officer Guidelines

    • The guideline applies to all Toronto Fire Services (TFS) personnel of full rank or in an acting capacity.
    • Officers are responsible for the management, efficiency, conduct, and training standards of personnel under their command.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure the safety and welfare of TFS personnel and the public during emergency and non-emergency operations.
    • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude, representing the image of professional firefighters.
    • Ensure personnel under their supervision: • Are trained as required for their duties. • Are informed about expectations in performance and participation. • Follow TFS policies, guidelines, and procedures. • Are familiar with Standard Operating Guidelines and Policies (SOGs & Ps), Training and Equipment Notes, Rules and Regulations, and Standing Orders.

    Communications and Equipment

    • Ensure assigned personnel are familiar with TFS communications, including Fire Chief's communiques, memorandums, and other written materials.
    • Ensure TFS apparatus and equipment are: • Maintained and kept in operational readiness. • Repaired as required by TFS policy.

    Incident Management System (IMS)

    • Ensure the IMS is followed at all incidents, and participate in: • After-Action Reviews (AARs) and sharing lessons learned with others. • Continuous training to improve IMS skills.

    Reporting and Records

    • Complete reports and records accurately and in a timely fashion, including: • Daily staffing reports on Quattro. • Emergency Incident Reports. • Other reports and forms as directed by Standard Operating Guidelines and Policies. • Training reports. • Personal notes, maintained as per TFS note-taking specifications.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Conduct in-service fire prevention programs and report as required.
    • Maintain TFS facilities as required.
