  • Thyroid Follicles

    • Basic structural units of the thyroid gland.
    • Spherical structures composed of follicular cells surrounding a central cavity.
  • Thyroid Colloid Inside Follicle

    • Gel-like substance located within the thyroid follicles.
    • Contains thyroglobulin, a precursor to thyroid hormones T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine).
  • Follicular Cell

    • Cuboidal to columnar epithelial cells that line the thyroid follicles.
    • Responsible for the synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormones.
  • Parafollicular Cell

    • Also known as C cells, situated between the thyroid follicles.
