The Industrial Revolution

The learning objectives of Lesson 2 in G9 Humanities Unit 1 are to locate and describe physical and human features allowing for the growth of industry, describe patterns and trends in urbanisation, and know the difference between cause and effect.

The reasons for the change in industry during the Industrial Revolution include the invention of steam power, new machines, increased population, development of new transport systems, and development of the British Empire.

The British Empire provided the raw materials necessary for the revolution of industry and also provided new markets in which to sell Britain's manufactured goods.

<p>Transport systems played a significant role in the Industrial Revolution as the first canals were built to transport raw materials to the factories and to take finished goods to markets.
