the assassination of Franz Ferdinand the Archduke of Austro-Hungarian Empire and his wife, Sophie, the Duchess of Hohenberg, which occurred on 28 June 1914 by Bosnian Serb student Gavrilo Princip at Sarajevo the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. His assassination in Sarajevo precipitated Austria-Hungary's declaration of war against Serbia.
