The size of the ball must be within specific dimensions, typically between 38-40mm in diameter. The racket's blade surface area should neither exceed nor fall below specified limits. Additionally, a maximum limit is set for the weight and thickness of the racket. Rubber sheets applied on blades must conform to certain specifications of thickness, hardness, and pimpled structure.

Court Markings

The table tennis playing field consists of a rectangular table measuring precisely 9 meters x 15 meters. There is a white net extending from one side to the opposite side, dividing the space into halves. Vertical lines are drawn along the sidelines and centerline. The service lines run parallel to the sidelines, while the short lines bisect the width of the table at a distance from the ending line.

Basic Rules

• A player cannot hit the ball twice unless it is a serve or let.
• Faults result in points for the opponent.
• If both players commit a fault simultaneously during a rally, it is called a 'let' - no point is awarded to either player and they play the ball again.
