Literal Meaning of Sunnah and Hadith
- Sunnah: Practice of an individual, custom of a society, established tradition of generations.

- Khabar Mutawatir- Narrated by many reliable individuals, minimizing chance of fabrication.
- Verbal Mutawatir- An example of wording from the last sermon of the Prophet (PBUH).
- Conceptual Mutawatir- Examples are issues regarding daily prayers, and grave punishments
- Khabar Wahid- A hadith that is not Mutawatir. -Further classification of Khabar Wahid: - Mash'hur- at least three narrators at every stage - Azeez- at least two narrators at every stage - Ghareeb- at least one narrator at every stage
Classification of Hadith (Based on Quality of Chain & Text)
- Sahih: Authentic - Accurately recorded regarding the chain of narration and text.
- Hasan: Good - Fulfills criteria of a sahih but some narration may not have exceptional memory.
- Za'eef: Weak - Broken chain of narration, narrator with questionable character or memory.
- Mawdu': Fabricated - Falsely attributed to the Prophet (PBUH).
Importance of Hadith Categories
- Sahih and Hasan are crucial for religious matters.
- Za'eef can be used for supporting information but not as primary sources.
