Subduction Zone Overpressure Quiz

The main focus of the study is to infer the relationship between overpressure and slow earthquakes in the subduction zone of Hyuga-nada at the western Nankai Trough, Japan.

The Nankai Trough in Japan is significant because it is an area with a subduction zone where earthquake records are well archived, and slow earthquakes have been detected in this zone over the past 20 years.

The purpose of understanding the dynamics and deformation in the subduction zone is to gain knowledge about slow earthquakes, which might occur and trigger bigger earthquakes.
