Strategic Alignment
- A successful business strategy should encompass coordinated choices about the highest-value business model and effective use of resources.

Strategic Alignment – Scenarios
- Example scenarios show how project managers impact project outcomes through clarifying project purpose, importance, and contribution to company goals.
Project Management Contributions
- Projects drive changes within organizations, enable business value creation.
- Tangible examples (assets), intangible examples (brand recognition, strategic alignment, social benefit) of project contributions.
Project, Program, and Portfolio Management
- A project can be managed independently, within a program, or within a portfolio.
- A program is a group of related projects coordinated to achieve shared goals. A portfolio represents projects, programs, and operations grouped to achieve strategic objectives.
Project Management Processes
- The five process groups: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, Closing. (Note different processes for each group)
Project Charter
- A project charter formally authorizes the project and gives the project manager authority.
- It links projects, resources, strategic objectives and also shows commitment to a project. Contains key project information relevant to project activities.
