Demographic Indicators

  • Human Development Index (HDI) is a composite of three basic indicators: longevity, knowledge, and standard of living
  • Size of population is determined by the number of persons
  • Birth rate and death rate are measured per 1000 of population
  • Infant and child mortality, maternal mortality, and fertility are main indicators
  • Density of population refers to the number of persons per square kilometer
  • Sex ratio is the number of females per 1000 males
