Skeletal System Muscles

• The skeletal system is made up of 206 bones that provide support and protection for the body
• Muscles work with the skeletal system to facilitate movement and maintain posture
• There are three types of muscles that interact with the skeletal system:
  • Skeletal muscles (voluntary muscles): attached to bones and help move the body's skeleton
  • Smooth muscles (involuntary muscles): found in the walls of hollow organs and help move substances through them
  • Cardiac muscles (involuntary muscles): found in the heart and help pump blood

Urinary System Disorders

• Common disorders of the urinary system:
  • Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): bacterial infections that can occur in the bladder, kidneys, or urethra
  • Kidney Stones: small, hard mineral deposits that form in the kidneys and can cause pain and blockage
  • Nephritis: inflammation of the kidneys, often caused by infection or autoimmune disorders
  • Bladder Cancer: abnormal growth of cells in the bladder

Digestive System Enzymes

• Enzymes in the digestive system:
  • Amylase: breaks down carbohydrates into simple sugars
  • Lipase: breaks down fats into fatty acids and glycerol
  • Protease: breaks down proteins into amino acids
  • Lactase: breaks down lactose (a sugar found in milk) into glucose and galactose
• Enzymes are produced in various organs, including the salivary glands, pancreas, and small intestine

Respiratory System Anatomy

• Major organs of the respiratory system:
  • Nose and mouth: air enters the body through the nose or mouth
  • Trachea: tube that carries air from the nose or mouth to the lungs
  • Bronchi: tubes that branch off from the trachea and lead to the lungs
  • Lungs: organs that exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide through the process of respiration
• Diaphragm: muscle that separates the chest cavity from the abdominal cavity and helps expand the lungs

Circulatory System Functions

• Major functions of the circulatory system:
  • Transportation of oxygen and nutrients from the lungs and digestive system to the body's cells
  • Transportation of carbon dioxide and waste products from the body's cells to the lungs and excretory organs
  • Regulation of body temperature
  • Maintenance of blood pressure
  • Support of immune function through the transportation of white blood cells

• Existencia de tres tipos de músculos que interactúan con el sistema esquelético:

Enzimas del Sistema Digestivo

• Enzimas del sistema digestivo:

  • Transporte de dióxido de carbono y productos de desecho desde las células del cuerpo a los pulmones y órganos excretores
  • Regulación de la temperatura corporal
  • Mantenimiento de la presión arterial
  • Apoyo a la función inmunológica a través del transporte de células blancas
