Part-Time Employees
- Part-time employees work less than 80 hours bi-weekly.
- They are eligible for annual step increases every year, on the first full pay period after their anniversary date, unless denied by their Department/Bureau Director.
- Part-time unrepresented employees at the maximum of their pay range receive an annual lump-sum payment of 3% computed from regular base-pay earnings over the previous 26 pay periods.
- They accrue annual leave and sick time as per the Sheriff's Policy Manual.
- Part-time employees with a weekly work schedule of 30 hours or more are eligible for health benefits.
Identification Cards
- All employees, volunteers, vendors, and contractors of the Broward Sheriff's Office are issued an identification card with their name, photograph, and classification.
Authorized Badges/Identification
- Deputy sheriffs are issued identification cards with their name and photograph, identifying them as a deputy sheriff.
- Certified employees in the Department of Fire Rescue and Emergency Services are issued identification cards with their rank and classification.
- Law enforcement and cross-certified deputies serving in a law enforcement capacity are authorized to display or possess BSO law enforcement badges.

Carrying Badges and ID Cards

Providing Identification

Vendor ID Card Issuance
- Commanders send requests for BSO Vendor ID Cards to the Human Resources Director, including the person's name, date of birth, sex, race, Social Security number, and written justification.
- Human Resources ensures a background investigation is completed before issuing the Vendor ID Card.
- Vendors are responsible for contacting Human Resources to arrange for their Vendor ID Card preparation.
Employee Replacement ID Card Issuance
- Employees are only authorized to have one BSO ID Card.
- Lost or stolen ID Cards require procedures outlined in the Sheriff's Policy Manual for damage/loss of BSO property.
- Employees must return old ID Cards to Human Resources before a replacement ID Card is issued.
- Replacement ID Card requests require the employee's name, CCN, reason for the request, and a copy of the completed Police/Event Report or case card (for lost or stolen ID Cards).
