Sex at Birth
- Sex at birth is typically assigned based on external genitalia.
Differences between Male and Female
- External Genitalia: Males have a penis, females have a Vagina; Both are used for urination, females use the Vagina for sexual intercourse and childbirth.
- Reproductive Organs: Males have testes to produce and store sperm; Females have Ovaries to produce and store eggs and to sustain a fetus during pregnancy.
- Sex-linked Chromosomes: Males have XY chromosomes, which contain fewer genes than XX chromosomes found in Females.
- Hormone Levels: Typically, males have more testosterone and females have more estrogen.
- Brain Differences: Males tend to have a bigger Amygdala and a smaller hippocampus, leading to potentially more intense emotions and potentially less developed learning and memorization abilities. Females tend to have a bigger hippocampus and a larger corpus callosum.
