Security
- Clearance: DODCAF vets personnel for access to classified information; two levels: SECRET (T3) and TOP SECRET (T5).
- Classification: Defines information sensitivity; three levels: TOP SECRET (exceptionally grave damage), SECRET (serious damage), and CONFIDENTIAL (damage).
- Need to Know: Valid reason for needing access to classified information; job-related necessity.
- Access: Authorization from CO or designee to access classified information. Clearance + Need to Know = Access.
- Compromise: Loss or suspected loss of classified material.
- Restricted Area: Secured spaces (CIC, SSES, etc.) with extra access controls.
- NOFORN: Information not releasable to foreign nationals.
- FVEY: Information sharable with US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
- PII: Personally Identifiable Information (SSN, etc.)
Electronic Warfare (EW)
- EW Position: Located in the CIC, forward port corner.
- EW Officer: ENS Kesselbrenner.
- Primary System: AN/SLQ32(V)6.
- AN/SLQ32 Function: Anti-ship missile defense.
- SLQ-32(V)6 Subsystems:
- Above Deck Equipment (ABDE)
- SLQ-32 Antennas (port and starboard, under wings)
- Below Deck Equipment (BLDE)
- Radar 1
- Common Processing System (CPS)
- CSER 2
- Common Display System (CDS)
- MK 53 DLS: Decoy Launching System.
- DLS Decoy Types: NULKA (MK234), SEDUCTION (MK214), INFRARED (MK245).
- Chaff Launchers: 6 launchers, 6 tubes per launcher.
- Seduction/Infrared Launch Locations: CIC and Bridge.
- NULKA Launchers: 4 launchers, 8 rounds (2 per launcher).
- NULKA Launch Location: CIC.
- EW Subdivisions:
- EA (attack): Denying enemy use of the electromagnetic spectrum (jamming).
- ES (support): Providing indications and warnings of emitters.
- EP (protect): Protecting our ability to use the electromagnetic spectrum.
- PCMS: Passive Countermeasure System; materials to reduce radar cross-section (various materials).
- Levels: High, Medium, Low.
- EMCON: Emissions Control; controlling the use of transmitters to reduce detection.
- EMCON Time Requirements: Section III (3 min), Section II (2 min), Section I (2 min).
Information Warfare (IW)
- SSES: Ship's Signal Exploitation Space.
- SSES Location: Honor P-Way, next to CSMC.
- IWO: LTJG Jeffi.
- SSES Primary/Secondary Mission: Indications and warnings to ownship, strike group, and national consumers; Search and Rescue (SAR).
- SSES Frequency Bands: HF, VHF, UHF.
INTEL
- SNOOPIE: Ships Nautical or Otherwise Photographic Interpretation and Examination Team; intelligence collection on surface, air, and land targets.
- VI: Visual Information; no-fail mission to be the first to truth. Used in instances with another foreign government.
