- The MSA G1 SCBA is a breathing apparatus that provides a safe air supply to users in hazardous environments.
SCBA Components and Functions

Low Pressure Warning and Alarm Systems
- The pressure reducer with primary low pressure warning device alerts users to low air pressure.
- The primary low pressure warning device (bell) in the pressure reducer sounds an alarm if the air pressure falls below a certain level.
- The HUD's 7 LEDs separated on the left and right sides display the air pressure status.
PASS Device and Speaker Module

SCBA Usage and Maintenance

- If the cylinder is not fully pressurized during the harness donning process, the user should re-pressurize the cylinder.
- If the primary low pressure warning device fails to alarm while donning the SCBA face piece, the user should check the device and replace it if necessary.
- If there are air leaks while donning the SCBA harness, the user should check the connections and tighten them as necessary.
HUD Status Indicators
- Four green illuminated LEDs on the HUD indicate a normal air pressure status.
- A red flashing LED on the HUD Alarm Status indicates an emergency situation.
- A yellow illuminated buddy light indicates a low air pressure warning.
Emergency Procedures
- If the battery icon displays two yellow segments on the secondary screen of the control module, the user should replace the battery.
- A flashing red alarm button on the control module indicates an emergency situation.
- If the air leaks from any fitting or along the quick fill hose during the UAC filling procedure, the user should stop the procedure and repair the leak.
Universal Air Connection (UAC) Fitting
- The UAC fitting is used to connect the SCBA to an air supply.
- The main purpose of the UAC fitting is to allow users to fill their cylinders quickly.
EBSS Connection Procedure
- The EBSS manifold allows users to connect and share intermediate air pressure.
- Users should hold both manifold blocks during the EBSS connection procedure.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance
- If the LED display lights on the HUD do not show four green lights, the user should check the HUD and replace it if necessary.
- If the pressure gauge and LCD display show the system pressure is below 4050 psi, the user should re-pressurize the cylinder.
- If there is any visible damage or if the connection seal on the battery module is missing, the user should replace the battery module.
- If negative pressure cannot be maintained in the face piece during a visual inspection, the user should replace the face piece.
Cold Weather Limitations
- The SCBA has limitations in cold weather, and users should take precautions to ensure the system functions properly.
Visual Inspection and Maintenance
- Users should perform a visual inspection on the SCBA before use and check for any damage or wear.
- If any cracks or visible damage are found on the displays during a routine check, the user should replace the displays.

- Users should ensure the quick connect coupling is fully attached to the cylinder valve adapter.

Corrective Glasses and Face Piece
- If corrective glasses have temple frames that pass between the sealing surface of the face piece and the user's face, the user should adjust the face piece or use alternative glasses.
Moisture and Freezing
- If moisture in the SCBA freezes and restricts airflow, the user should warm the system to thaw the moisture.
- If hissing or popping sounds are heard when pressurizing the SCBA system, the user should check for air leaks and repair them as necessary.
