Chapter VI: Rules for Single Line Working by Electrical Speaking Instruments
- These rules apply at stations using electrical speaking instruments for train operations, or where electric block systems have failed.
6.01 Preliminary
- The rules in this chapter apply to single-line stations.
6.02 Authority to Proceed
- (a) A Paper Line Clear Ticket is required for a train to leave a station. The ticket must be applicable for the block section the train is entering.
- (b) Exception: This rule does not apply when assisting a disabled train or during a total communication interruption.
- (c) Additional instructions (e.g., cautious driving) are documented on Form T/409.
6.03 Line Clear Enquiry Message Books
- These books have 50 numbered pages for progressively recording messages.
6.04 Line Clear Enquiry Message (Outward/Inward)
- Form T/A 1425 or T/B 1425 is used to request/provide line clearance.
6.05 Conditional Line Clear Ticket
- (a) Red font, upward-facing water arrow mark, signed by the Station Master, specific parameters pertaining to the last 3 trains (left & to follow for safe movement) and speed limits (25 KMPH with clear visibility and 10 KMPH or less otherwise).
- (b) The ticket cannot be finalized until the contingent train has arrived completely and is only usable on designated sections.
6.06-6.27 (Other Rules)
