Study Notes
Map Output and Volumetrics in RMS
- Maps can be output to specific folders in the Data tree including Model QC, General 2D data, Clipboard, and Zones, with the latter requiring a network structural framework for grid model based output.
- The map increment option allows users to adjust grid resolution for output maps, with a smaller value providing more accurate maps but slower calculations.
- Input variables for select volumes are entered in the Variables tab, depending on the options selected in the Calculations tab.
- Variables can be defined for each zone, region, or as a single value for all zones and regions through three alternative input sources: Panel, Table, and Region model.
- Fluid contact data from a region attribute table can be used in Volumetrics if defined with a template based on standard contacts.
- The Variables tab lists the formulas to be used for selected calculations, with options depending on the input and calculations chosen in previous tabs.
- Users can specify variables by selecting a variable class, specific variable, and subsets for which different variable values are given.
- Variable types include oil, gas, and formation variables, each with specific variables and unit measures, defined through the Unit Set Selector in the Tools menu.
- Variables used as input to volume calculations can be specified through constant values, surface or parameter selection, or by using a table with the same format as specified in the Table Link section of the Volumetrics dialog box.
- In the Report file tab, users can specify the output as a Report file or a Report table data object, with calculated values in units taken from the Import/Export unit set, allowing generation of reports in specified units.
- Associated gas and liquid units in the Report file and table are linked to the units set for STOIIP and GIIP respectively, which are specified in the Unit Set Selector dialog box accessed from the RMS menu bar under Tools.
