SOBOE: Shortness of breath on exertion, difficulty breathing during physical activity like walking up stairs. Also known as breathlessness on exertion and exertional dyspnea.

SOB: Shortness of breath or breathlessness, a feeling of not being able to breathe normally or feeling suffocated. A frightening sensation.

Cyanosis: A bluish-purple discoloration of the skin, especially thin areas like lips, mouth, earlobes, and fingernails. Indicates decreased oxygen in the bloodstream, possibly due to lung or heart problems.

Dyspnea: A medical term for shortness of breath. Patients may describe it as "air hunger", chest tightness, or needing to breathe harder, etc. It's often used interchangeably with shortness of breath.

Apnea: Absence of breathing for more than 15 seconds. Often associated with bradycardia (slow heart rate) and/or desaturation (low blood oxygen level). Common in sleep disorders.

Orthopnea: Shortness of breath when lying down. Relieved by sitting or standing up. Common with heart failure or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
