REET Exam: Overview and Eligibility

• The Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test (REET) is a state-level exam in Rajasthan, India
• It determines eligibility for teaching positions in Rajasthan's government schools

Exam Conducting Body

• The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) conducts the REET exam
• RBSE sets the syllabus, exam pattern, and eligibility criteria

Exam Levels

• The REET exam has two levels: Level 1 and Level 2
• Level 1 is for teachers of classes 1 to 5
• Level 2 is for teachers of classes 6 to 8

Eligibility Criteria

Level 1

• Candidates must have passed 10+2 with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.)
• Or, candidates must have passed 10+2 with at least 45% marks and a 2-year D.El.Ed. as per NCTE norms
• Or, candidates must have passed 10+2 with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) degree
• Or, candidates must have passed 10+2 with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
• Or, candidates must have graduated and passed a 2-year D.El.Ed.

Level 2

• Candidates must have graduated and passed a 2-year D.El.Ed.
• Or, candidates must have graduated with at least 50% marks and a 1-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
• Or, candidates must have graduated with at least 45% marks and a 1-year B.Ed. degree as per NCTE norms
• Or, candidates must have passed 10+2 with at least 50% marks and a 4-year B.El.Ed. degree
• Or, candidates must have passed 10+2 with at least 50% marks and a 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed. or B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed. degree
• Or, candidates must have graduated with at least 50% marks and a 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)

Exam Pattern

Level 1

• The Level 1 exam consists of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs)
• The exam is of 150 marks, with each question worth 1 mark
• The exam duration is 2.5 hours
• The exam includes five sections: Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I, Language-II, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies
• Language-I options: Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Urdu, Sindhi, Punjabi, Gujarati
• Language-II options: English or Hindi

Level 2

• The Level 2 exam consists of 150 MCQs
• The exam is of 150 marks, with each question worth 1 mark
• The exam duration is 2.5 hours
• The exam has four sections: Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I, Language-II, and either Mathematics and Science or Social Studies
• Language-I options: Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Urdu, Sindhi, Punjabi, Gujarati
• Language-II options: English or Hindi

Syllabus

Child Development and Pedagogy

• Covers child development, learning, and pedagogy
• Includes child development concepts, dimensions, individual differences, learning theories, motivation, and assessment

Language-I & II

• Tests proficiency in chosen languages
• Includes comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and language teaching pedagogy

Mathematics (Level 1 & 2)

• Covers mathematics topics
• Includes number systems, arithmetic, geometry, mensuration, and data handling

Environmental Studies (Level 1)

• Covers environmental science, social science and pedagogy
• Includes the environment, ecosystems, natural resources, pollution, and social issues

Science (Level 2)

• Covers topics related to Physics, Chemistry and Biology
• Includes matter, energy, forces, motion, the living world, the human body, and health

Social Studies (Level 2)

• Covers history, geography, civics, and economics
• Includes Indian history, world history, Indian geography, world geography, the Indian constitution, and economics

Qualifying Marks

• Candidates must score at least 60% marks to qualify
• Reserved categories receive some relaxations as per government norms

Validity

• The REET certificate is valid for a lifetime
