Time Measurement
- Time is measured in hours and minutes past midnight or noon.
Types of Clocks
- There are two types of clocks: digital and analog.
- Digital clocks display numbers electronically, whereas analog clocks use hands to point to numbers.
Analog Clock
- The face of an analog clock contains 12 numbers.
- The clock can be read by saying the hour, e.g., one o'clock, two o'clock, etc.
Clock Hands
- The hour hand is the shortest hand, which circles the entire clock twice a day.
- The hour hand points to the hour on the clock face.
- The minute hand is longer than the hour hand and points to the minutes on the clock face.
- The second hand is the longest hand, which tells us how many seconds have passed in the minute.
Time of Day
- Hours between 12:00 midnight and 12:00 noon are read as A.M. (e.g., 6:00 AM).
- Hours between 12:00 noon and 12:00 midnight are read as P.M. (e.g., 6:00 PM).
Reading Time
- To read the hour, look at the hour hand and the number it is pointing to.
