Other remarkable achievements from within the Ranji Trophy include the trophy being shared between Gujarat and Andhra state (Nizam's XI) due to their equal performance during the finals, and when the matches had to be abandoned due to rain, leading to ties occurring more often in the early days. Additionally, there have been several instances where players made notable debuts in the tournament; for instance, Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni made his debut in 2003-04, scoring over 1000 runs in eight seasons.
