Blocking Device Removed (BDR) Code
- Unique, random number generated by Operations Control Center (OCC) to Roadway Worker-in-Charge (RWIC) before fouling a track or starting work under CTC or Interlocking Rules
Interlocking and Interlocking Appliances
- Interlocking: arrangement of signals and appliances that must follow a specific sequence
- Interlocking Appliance: movable apparatus that allows or prevents movements over designated routes, including switches, movable frogs, mitre rails, and derails
- Blocking an Interlocking Appliance: applying an approved device to the control console to prevent operation
- Securing an Interlocking Appliance: applying an approved device to prevent operation, or electrically disabling and mechanically locking the appliance in the required position
Interlocking Limits and Signals
- Interlocking Limits: tracks between the extreme opposing signals of an interlocking
- Signal Block Limit Signal: fixed signal indicating the limit of a block under Manual Block System (MBS) rules
- Cab Signal: signal in the engine control compartment indicating a permissible speed
- Controlled Signal: fixed signal capable of displaying a Stop indication, controlled by the Rail Traffic Controller (RTC)
