- Osteitis Pubis: Erosions and sclerosis at the symphysis pubis. More common than infection.
- Disc Extrusion: Disc herniation with the nucleus extruding and moving inferiorly behind the vertebral body.
- Spondylolisthesis: Change or orientation of vertebrae, "Napoleons hat sign," indicates a grade 4 or 5 spondylolisthesis.
- Focal disc bulge or disc protrusion: Specific/focal protrusion without signs of extrusion.
- Circumferential disc Bulge: Disc herniation extending around the entire circumference of the disc.
Other Important Concepts
- Determinants of health: Factors that impact the health of individuals and populations.
- Evidence-based care: Promotes an active shared role for consumers in health care decision-making.
- Somatic Symptom Disorder: Best treated within a rehabilitation framework.
- Primary dysmenorrhoea: Caused by excessive prostaglandins.
- Menorrhagia: Excessive menstrual blood loss.
- Scurvy: Symptoms include bleeding gums, joint pain, frequent infections, and softened bones. No hysteria.
- Spina bifida: Increased risk with a deficiency in folic acid.
- Bioavailability: Folic acid in supplements has higher bioavailability compared to food sources.
- Conversion Symptoms: Medically unexplained involuntary motor or sensory symptoms, such as blindness. More common in young females.
- Health Inequality: Systemic racism and discrimination are linked to health inequalities experienced by First Nations people.
