Study Notes
- To be a replacement, you must be registered with the Order of your profession.
- The Order verifies the diplomas obtained by all professionals to guarantee the quality of care.
- The Order is the only one that can give you the authorization to practice, both as an incumbent and as a replacement.
- Some associations may ask for specific conditions to practice as a replacement: nurses, for example, must prove that they have worked for 18 months in the last six years, i.e. 2400 hours of actual work.
- To find out the specific criteria for your profession, visit the website of your professional association or ameli.fr.
- Once all authorizations have been obtained, a contract must be established between the replacement and the incumbent.
- It is mandatory for any replacement lasting more than 24 hours, and highly recommended for less than 24 hours.
- This contract sets out the duration of the replacement, the terms of practice and the payment of fees.
- For any replacement of more than 3 months, consecutive or not, the replacement cannot then set up in a competing practice within 2 years.
- The incumbent may, however, give his agreement and must in this case include it in the contract.
- As for the holder, he must inform his professional order of his replacement, giving the name, first name and address of his replacement, and ask for authorization if he is a student.
- He/she must cease all professional activity during this period, except in exceptional cases where he/she must, for example, go to an under-supplied area to ensure the permanence of care, still on a private basis.
- For students, there are exceptions for substitutions in certain medical professions: students can, under certain conditions, become substitutes during their last cycle of studies.
- Once you have found a replacement, you must then inform your CPAM of the address of the practice, and notify the URSSAF within 8 days of the start of the activity, for the collection of social security contributions.
- The owner of the practice must also inform the Service des Relations avec les professionnels de santé of his health insurance fund.
- nding and indicating his or her status as a substitute.
