Public Administration
- Public administration is an integral part of a nation's social, cultural, and economic life. It is a lasting force.
- Public administration's origin can be traced to the 1986 Minnowbrook conference, under Dwight Waldo.
Elements of Public Administration
- Effective Public Administration is characterized by three key elements:
- Good interrelationships: between the executive, legislature (and the board of directors in the private sector), and decision/policy-making processes.
- Competent leadership: the executive and their assistants/subordinates effectively streamline executive policies which are broken down into actionable steps.
- Strong leadership: those in charge of operations provide effective leadership to empower employees to successfully carry out tasks in accordance with plans.
Elements of New Public Administration
- A softened normative approach.
- Emphasis on societal concerns
