    Neurodevelopmental Disorders

    • Neurodevelopmental disorders include: Intellectual Disabilities (ID), Communication Disorder (CD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Specific Learning Disorder, Motor Disorders, and Other Neurodevelopmental Disorders.

    Intellectual Disabilities (ID)

    • Characterized by significantly below-average intellectual and adaptive functioning, evident in childhood.
    • Difficulties in three areas: Conceptual Domain, Social Domain, and Practical Domain.
    • DSM IV: formerly known as Mental Retardation.

    Communication Disorder (CD)

    • Includes Language Disorder and Speech Sound Disorder.
    • Language Disorder: characterized by expressive ability (lower) and receptive language (average), resistant to treatment, and difficulty with reading comprehension.
