Present Simple Tense
Affirmative Sentences
- Structure: Subject + base form of the verb
- Examples:
- I play soccer.
- She reads books.
- They go to school.
Negative Sentences
- Structure: Subject + do/does + not + base form of the verb
- Examples:
- I do not (don't) play soccer.
- She does not (doesn't) read books.
- They do not (don't) go to school.
- Note: "Do" is used with I, you, we, they; "does" is used with he, she, it.
Present Continuous Tense
Affirmative Sentences
- Structure: Subject + am/is/are + verb + -ing
- Examples:
- I am playing soccer.
- She is reading a book.
- They are going to school.
Negative Sentences
- Structure: Subject + am/is/are + not + verb + -ing
- Examples:
- I am not playing soccer.
- She is not (isn’t) reading a book.
- They are not (aren’t) going to school.
- Note: "Am" is used with I; "is" is used with he, she, it; "are" is used with you, we, they.
